Sept. 24, 2012
Hola a todos!!!
This week was pretty good. We had a lot of work and a lot of play. It was really was fun.
Baptism report: Linda and her son are still on date with their date for the 29th but I won´t be baptizing them. We apparently have two
that are going to be baptized on Sat. the 29th here in my new area. I don´t know anything about them so I´ll send photos and info
next week.:)
As you just read, I am in a new area. Finally!! I am in Matehuala. It is a city in the State of San Luis Potosi and is about three hours north of San Luis Potosi(The City). I google mapped it and all of have to do is follow the M-57 pretty much straight up from San Luis and bam...there it is. It´s out in the middle of nowhere. It´s the furthest area from the Offices. It´s a lot and I mean a lot smaller than San Luis Potosi and is more like the Mexico I thought I was coming too. My house is pretty nice and I think I´m going to like it. Only problem, apparently it´s going to get really cold really fast. Yes Dad, that´s why I emptied my account out today. Got to buy some warm clothes.
We were eating dinner with one of the new Consoulors yesterday when we got the call. I was so so so super excited!!! Elder Cruz is having a
baby tomorrow(Missionary Terminology for getting a new missionary). I packed everything up last night and was in the bus station at 7:45 and
on a bus at 8. I got here and no one was waiting for me. The bus from San Luis to Matehuala continues on Northward and I figured I had
gotten off to soon. Nope...apparently it´s the joke here to show up like 15-20 minutes late to scare all the new missionaries that are without phone. :)
I want to send my love and support to the Isom family. I heard the news and am really sad and sorry too hear that Alyssa passed away. I´m
not quite sure what to say or how to help you feel better. All I know is that our Savior has a plan for us and that he died so we can fullfill this plan. The plan lets us live with him again and with our family too. I know without a doubt that this is true. We can live with our families again and for all Eternity. Part of the Savior´s sacrifice was to give us the help and support we need for every situation. If you use this blessing that the Lord has given you, all will be well. Stay strong and have faith and all will be right and you can be with her again. I love you and am praying for you!
Well, that´s about all the time I got. I love you all and hope all is well at home. Thanks for your love and support.
Love,
Elder Carter

Hey everyone!!!
It`s been a great week. Our dates have fallen through again but we have others. Rosi has fallen off the face of the planet and Cristian and Claudia
need a little more time. We have Linda and her son for the 29th and Cora who is a friend of the Bishop`s family. Also for the 29th. They are all dates for after changes so I might not be here to baptize them but I helped get them to that point. :)
We have been working really hard with the new rules. We have had tons of success and have great new investigators that I`m sure will be progressing towards baptism. These rules are mission wide and I think a few other missions have changed around here too. Not sure if it`s
all of Mexico or what. The Mission President has control over stuff like that so I`m thinking it`s not all over but hey...who knows.
I`ve decided to study my Spanish harder the last week and it`s surprising how much improvement I`ve had. I`m going to continue to do this and I`m sure I`ll be talking as close to a Mexican as a Gringo can sound like. :)
I`m out of time today but I hope all is well at home! Sorry for the short letter but we weren`t paying attention to time and I`ve got to go.
Love you all!!!!

Hola everyone!!
Things here in Satelite, San Luis Potosi, San Luis Potosi couldn`t be better. We are working hard and having very good sucess! Our Baptism dates are still good at the moment so continue to pray that all will go well.
The Mission now has new rules that we will be going by. We no longer are aloud to knock doors. Yes, you read that right! We can not knock doors. We now have to spend time visiting less actives, inactives, future missionaries, recent converts, families that the bishopbric tell us to visit etc. This way we will be getting more references and strengthing the wards and stakes. It`s going to be a rough little bit only working with the members but this is def. a good thing for us. It actually makes us do the part of working with the members and reference investigators are always better then ones that we find. We already have a less active family with three kids that aren`t baptized going towards baptism. I`m excited!!!
Things are starting to build up for the Independence day of Mexico, the 16th, and there are flags, red, white, and green things everywhere and the
people are getting excited. We are eating on Sunday with a big family that likes to cook and party and they told us yesturday to have Mexico shirts when we go to their house cause they aren`t letting us in with White Shirts and ties. I`m super excited, we`re going to have a fiesta!! The Stake is having a Noche Mexicana and it`s going to be a big party. We are learning a popular Mexican song to sing and a classical(Like from the 1500s classical) mexican dance to perform for the members. It`s going to be a blast!
Elder Cruz and I have been doing good. We have the ward working with us and are having great success. He`s been teaching me to cook and now is making me cook so yes I can return home and make something for a change. I`m actually liking cooking. We only cook things with a stovetop and a blender but hey, it`s surprising what we`ve made at times!
Thanks to those of you who have sent me football scores, I actually appreciate it. Now I just need someone to send me the info on how the Patriots are doing. I don`t care about them Colts! ;)
Well this week has been great! I`m so super glad that I`ve got this chance to be out here serving the Lord and preaching his Gospel. I know that all of this is true! I know that our Savior, Jesus Christ lives. Our Father in Heaven too! They are always there for us when needed. The Scriptures are the word of God. IF we READ them, we WILL have all the BLESSINGS that we need in life. This I know is true. They were written for us.
Well I love you all. Thanks for the love and support!

Howdy!
This week has been great! We`ve had quite a bit of success and fun. We had Zone and Stake Conference and have learned a lot. Elder Hoyas of the 70 talked to us at Zone Conference and gave us some great info on how to be better missionaries. He also encouraged all of us to study the Attonement of Christ this week so I challenge all of you to do that.
For upcoming baptisms we have Erica and her three daughters. They will be baptized on the 8th and things are looking good. We also just challenged a young couple and will be giving them a date soon. Mayra, my first baptism bore her Testimony in Stake Conference on Sunday and it was really cool. I really felt the spirit strong and got a stronger testimony of why I`m out here.
The weather has changed again. The rain stopped which is really weird apparently. It is back to super hot and dry. I guess I was too excited and
cursed San Luis. Now they will have a super dry year.
Elder Cruz and I have become best friends. We are having a blast but working super super hard. Things are going super well and the work is def. progressing. We have plans to meet up in Utah and go to the Salt Lake Temple like a year after we get home. He is really wanting to learn English and it`s become really fun and challenging to teach him. I`m having to learn Spanish to teach him some of the english stuff so it`s great for both of us. We went to a little Zoo today and had a blast! We got up close and personal with all the animals. At times maybe a
little too close but nothing happened and we had fun. I touched a big giant 800 pound Tiger today. It was really cool! We had a blast playing with the animals and it was fun to leave San Luis for 4 hours. :)
Well I hope all Is well at home. I also hope that all of you are studying your scriptures, praying, etc. Doing those things you need to be doing. Esp. Brendon and Arianne who are soon to be missionaries! :)
I know this Church is true with all my heart and am so so so grateful to the Lord for this blessing in my life and my families lives.
Well I love you all,
Elder Carter
August 13-19, 2012
Hola peoples of the real world!!!
Don`t know if you remember me, I`ve been gone for almost 8 months. ;) Well this week has been great. Man if I thought the first Elder Cruz worked a ton I was def. wrong. My new Elder Cruz loves to work even more. I`m sure I`m going to die before this change is over.
I have never contacted this many people in my life. It`s pretty cool. We`ve found some new investigators that are progressing nice and I`m hoping we can get them wet. We are working for baptisms on the 8th of September. Don`t have anyone there yet but we`re pretty close.
Noche do Blanca: They are making a new stake in San Luis and the stake center is opening on the 8th. The Stake Presidency has asked us to put our baptism dates for this night. Cool thing to have for a opening party no? All the missionaries in the two zones are trying to have dates so Everyone can be dressed in white and so we can have a White Night! So far there are 5 baptisms. I`m sure there will be quite a few more!
Elder Cruz: Lots of people have asked if he turned out to be the cook that I thought he would be. Oh yes he has! He`s made Breakfast and Dinner every day. I am now eating super well and at this rate I will probably be fat by the end of the change. He is super funny and loves to work. He actually knows quite a bit of English and is wanting to speak like an american so we are practicing quite a bit. It`s pretty fun. Never thought I`d be an English teacher before.
Weather: Well the weather has taken a huge turn in what's normal. Everyone said that the end of August and September is their rainy time. I just thought they were crazy and that it would rain a little bit, oh was I wrong. It has rained so much in the past three days that I can`t believe it. It`s crazy how much water we have gotten and it still has a month to go. We have had some pretty wicked thunder storms that have actually scared me a bit. Like I don`t want to be standing out in the open caue the lightning is so flippen close and the thunder shakes the ground. It`s been pretty cool but a weebit scary too. :)
I want to thank everyone for their love and support! I feel your love and your prayers at times and I am super grateful for it. I want you all to know that I love this church with all my heart! I know that all of this is true and that I support it with all my strength. I`m enjoying my time out here and am learning so so so much. I know that the Lord loves each of us and that he died on the cross to save each and everyone of us. Through him we can recieve the forgivness we need to live with him and our Heavenly Father again. It`s not important what problems you may be having right now, everything is possible when we put our faith in him.
Well I love you all tons! Thanks again for everything!

Hola!!!
So Today was cambios!!! Guess where I`m writing you from. Is it Leon? What about Aguas Calientes? Or how about Cilya? If you guessed any of those you`re wrong. I`m in Satelite San Luis Potosi again and I have another Elder Cruz! How funny is that?! I was wanting
to go but we just found some Golden Invetigators so I`m glad I`m staying. Maybe I can get some more baptisms out of this area.
This week was great. We worked real hard and found some cool investigators to end the change with and we ended with the Baptism of Raymundo!!!!!! YAY!!! It was a really cool Baptism. The Zone Leaders baptized a family of 4 and the other area baptized one so it was a service of 6 baptisms. The spirit was super strong and it was super cool. I let Elder Cruz baptize Raymundo so he could have one more and someone asked who confirmed him. We try to get the Ward to do the confirmations to build relationships and have the ward members use their
Priesthood. Entonces the Bishop confirmed him. I was in the circle but it was the Bihop that blessed him.
Quite a few of you wrote about the Week of Crime that went on last week and the rising crime. Please don`t worry about us. Yes a lot of stuff went down and happened. Yes I know all the details but you don`t need to know. We have had things put into place to help protect us and had a special Meeting all about this and talked all about it. There are certain area we can not go into now and we have to be home by 8 now instead of 9-9 30. We actually have to call the Zone Leaders at 8 and let them now we are home. Please don`t worry and stress. Just keep the Elders and members of San Luis in your Prayers please.
Elder Cruz is actually younger then I am and has one month more in the mission then I do. In Mexico they can come out at 18 years of age instead of 19. Apparently he just turned 19 like a month ago. Weird huh? He loves to cook. How do I know this since I only have like 4 hours with him? We just went on the biggest shopping trip of my life. I think we just bought a whole new kitchen and like half the food at Costco. He is from Puebla Mexico and is pretty cool. I`ve had a great 4 hours so far so I think all will be well.
I don`t know if you heard but I def. did. Mexico`s soccer team won the Gold Medal in the Olympics and it is a big deal here. I watched the last few mins. with a member and man afterwards the city had quite a few parties going on. It was pretty crazy. Everyone is still talking about it. It`s pretty dang fun. :)
Well I`ve got to go. I had to write a big letter to President today so even with giving myself tons of time to write I ended up with no time. Stink!
I promise I`ll write everyone back next week.

Hola everyone!
I have like no time but wanted to say hi and let everyone know I`m ok. Apparently my letter last week didn`t get through.
We have a baptism on Friday. His name is Raymundo and he is super ready for bautismo. He is already starting to call himself a Mormon and is so so cool.
This week was really great and I learned lots about working hard when things are hard. We had little work this week but what we did do was awesome.
Well I`ve got to go but I want you to all know that I`m having a blast and loving Mexico! Thanks for all the love and support!
Love, Elder Carter
Oh PS...Mexico is going to kill Brazil Brendon!!!!!!!

Hola todos!!
¡Este semaña fue muy bueno! This week was great! We had lots of sucess and worked really hard. I`ve also learned a lot this week and am excited to continue to work hard this week and see what sucess we can have.
Baptism Report: We have an investigator named Raymundo for the 4th of August. He is really great and will be a great member. He has had problems with his diabetes and has lost a leg and his eye sight. It`s quite sad. It`s all happened in the last like year and a half and so he is basically in the start of a new life. The gospel has really brought about a change in his life and has helped him have more peace and happiness. He lives alone and his family doesn`t visit much so he has really enjoyed us coming over and the ward has stepped up nicely and visited him a ton. He is going to be great!
Soccer!!!!: We played soccer today with the Zones and I`m getting pretty good at goalie. Who said I was going to need good foot skills to impress all the Mexicans? All I need to do is keep the ball from going through the goal and they are impressed enough. One of the guys(Elders) from the other Zone was apparently actually a goalie from one of the ¨Major League Teams¨ here in Mexico. I think he said Cruz Azul. Well anyways he pulled me aside and gave me some tips and said I was pretty good. I deft. felt pretty good at that moment. :)
Spanish: Well my Spanish is starting to be pretty good. I`m not feelling to worried about it anymore. I actually had some ladies the other day ask if I was from Brazil. Apparently I sound like a Brazilian speaking spanish. That made me feel a little better. Hopefully that is what others think too!
Well I`ve got some time today so I`m keeping this one shortish so I can try to write back to some of you who have written me. Thanks for all of your love and support. Know that you are in my prayers!
The Church is True!!!
Love you all,
Elder Carter

Hola todos!
This week was fantastic! We lost Roberto and Leticia again for good this time so that was a bit of a bummer but we still had a good week. I`ve learned a lot of Spanish this week and have had some really cool studies too! Thanks to the few friends and family that answered my call for letters and emails. It was great to hear from you all. Once again our Monday is packed tight so I don`t have a ton of time to write so Sorry if I didn`t get to you. I`ll respond sometime, don`t worry. Just might be in two years. ;)
The weather this week has been crazy. There have been a bunch of storms that came through. It`s actually pouring rain
right now and the thunder is so flippin` loud. The power keeps going on and off. Thank goodness for the backup batteries that are permitting me to continue writting. We have got tons of rain and it`s helping our dry spurt a lot. Sorry
we`re stealling it all from Utah and the are around. Sounds like you guys could use a bit of what we`re being hit with.
So the other night we were walking down the street and the Cops pulled up and threw us in the back of the truck and starting interviewing us and asking questions. Turns out some lady called the cops and said there were two guys in
white shirts robbing the neighboor hood we were in. They brought the lady to see if it was us and she told the cops they were nuts. She had said white t-shirts and beanies. Fun times!!!!
Well I hope all is well at home. Sorry I`m not writing much. We`ll try to have more time next week. Love you all tons!

July 2- July 8, 2012
Hola everyone,
This was an awesome week! Elder Cruz has helped me a ton with my spanish and my mission practices!
Baptism Report: Roberto and Leticia are back on the board for next Saturday. We are getting them married this week and then wet the following
week. Apparently Lopez had a misunderstanding with them and I just completely translated the conversation wrong in my head. Happens to all of us. Mexican and Gringos too!
My new companion: Elder Cruz is from Pheonix Arizonia and is 21 years old. He has 23 months in the mission basically and will be leaving when the change is done on the 12th of August. He has been District Leader, Zone Leader and the assistant before so he is a great Elder and has helped me out a ton. We are really alike and get along great. He was a best friend after being with him for 15 mins. (Don`t worry Jake and Brendon, noone can beat you....well maybe some girl in the year to year and a half when I get back and you are still out. ;)
Changes: Had a lot of you ask about changes. I really don`t know. I`ll probably get changed to a new area after this change but with Elder Cruz
leaving I might have to stay one more to train an Elder to know the area.
Sorry this is a bit short. We don`t have tons of time today again but I want you all to know that all is well. The work is going forth and there is nothing that can stop it. I want you all to know that I love this gospel and know that it is true with all of my heart and I hope that you guys know this is true too. If not please do whatever is possible to find it out, to be a better member, to be a better son of God. God wants to bless us but its conditional on us living a good life, following the comandments and I testify that this is true.
Love you all tons!

June 25-July 2, 2012
Hola everyone!
This was a really weird week for me. I`ve had some really sad moments and so really good moments. I`ve learned a lot and am really grateful for the experiences I have had.
Monday was a normal day except we talked to the couple that was going to get married and baptized and they told us they didin`t want anything to do with us and not to pass by again. Sad...
Then on Tuesday we had interviews with President and Elder Lopez went home one change early. He left on Wed. with president to Leon and was leaving to go home on Thursday. Since changes are today I didn`t get my new companion until today. I worked with the Zone Leaders Wed night to Sat morning and then with Elder Lambert, who is younger then I am, in Oriente. We had some fun Spanish wise but both learned a ton about working and stuff Spanish wise.
My new Companion is Elder Cruz. He was one of the assistants when I first got here so he is a great missionary and I`m super excited to work with him. He is American and is from Arizona but his Dad is from Chile so he speaks perfect Spanish.
This is all I can write today. I poured rain today and we were stuck in a members for like 2 hours. We`ve got to run to our meeting. Not sure if I will
be able to write more this week. All is great and I`m super excited to continue working.
Thanks for all of the love and support you give to me. For all that wrote me, I`ll write you back in the next week or two.
Love you all!!!!
Elder Carter
PS Got the package with all the candy, flashlight, and CD. Thanks!!!
June 18-24, 2012
Hola personas of the real world!
Baptism Report: Roberto and Leticia have decided not to be baptized. We aren`t quite sure what happened but they told us they didn`t want anything more to do with us and not to pass by anymore. The next day we found 4 new investigators and two of them are def going to get wet. I`ll keep you posted with details.
This week has been great! We found those new people and have had some great lessons. We have been working really hard because Lopez wants to leave the area in great shape when he leaves next Monday. I wonder who my new companion is. Hope he`s cool.
Living Conditions: The people that we visit all the time usually have pretty good living conditions. The houses usually are pretty small. Like three small rooms and a bathroom and a big living room/dining room with a kitchen. Almost Condo size for those of you who have been in one of the Condos at East Canyon. They usually have homes that are well filled with furniture and stuff that we`ve got in America. Like I`ve said before, pretty much everyone has a television and they watch a lot of soccer.
Lessons: I love to have lessons. It gets me out of the sun and lets me sit down. ;) Ok but seriously Lessons are why we are out here. To teach people about the gospel and to help them find salvation. I really enjoy teaching people and talking to them, even if some of the conversation isn`t understood. ;) Like I said, I def love to teach the Plan of Salvation. I love seeing the blessings of knowing this lesson come into the lives of those we teach.
Funny story of the week: So on Thursday we were walking down the street and we passed this guy and he grabs my arm and stops me and asks for money. I told him I didn`t have anything but he didn`t believe me. In his words ¨What do you mean you don`t have any money? You are a fancy dressed Gringo. You probably have more than 1000 pesos in your pocket right now.¨ I couldn`t help but laugh. I then pulled out my wallet and gave him the ONE peso that I had. He handed it back and said ¨wow....I guess you`re more poor then I am. Keep it.¨ I think it`s funny that they just think I`m insanely loaded with money or something, and that they think I carry this great amount of cash in my pocket. It`s happened more than once. :) Good times!
Well I hope all is well at home. Not hearing much other then what`s going on in my house. Hint hint cough.... [email protected]
Well Love you all,
Elder Carter
June 11-17, 2012
HoLa EvErYoNe!!!!!!
I hope all is well at home. I`ve had a great week this week and it`s been great!
Baptism report: Roberto and Leticia are still on track for their Marriage on the 26th and baptism on the 30th. They are super excited and really want this in their lives. Pray that all goes well for them please!
My last letter was a hit so I`ll just stick with this. It`s not quite as boring as hearing about my boring weeks that are basically the same.
Favorite Scripture: Mosiah 2: 41. This is my favorite scripture because it can be applied to almost everything in life. It also contains a very special blessing and promise for us and it`s true because the Lord God has spoken it.
41
And moreover, I would desire that ye should consider on the blessed and ahappy state of those that keep the commandments of God. For behold, they are bblessed in all things, both temporal and spiritual; and if they hold out faithful to the end they are received into dheaven, that
thereby they may dwell with God in a state of never-ending happiness. O remember, remember that these things are true; for the Lord God hath spoken it.
When we simply obey the commandments and do the best we can in life we are blessed with temporal and spiritual things. Temporal things like money, work, a house to live in, health, etc. Spiritual things like Love, Peace, the Holy Spirit, and the blessing of living in the heavens again, but not just living in heaven, living in heaven with God IN never-ending happiness. This sounds good to me. Do you want to live in never-ending happiness? If so keep the commandments and do the things Heavenly Father wants you to do.
Food:
The food I eat here is food. :) I eat a lot of tortillas. Probably like 65% corn and 35% flour. I eat a lot of rice too. Usually mexican rice but from time to time other types too. Oh I found out the other day not to use Soy sauce on your white rice. It`s not the same thing as Soy sauce at home. It was nasty! Things are kinda backwards here. Tacos are more like little enchiladas and enchiladas are more like tacos. Apparently San Luis Potosi is famous for Enchiladas and is supposedly the first place to have Enchiladas. I`ll take a picture of some this week so you all can see what they look like. The enchiladas are def my favorite. The least favorite is Cow Intestine. I can eat it but I really have to force it down. Doesn`t taste to bad but the whole texture thing is what gets me. OH STORY TIME!!! I threw up this week at one of our lunch appointments. We were eating this soup and half way through the Sister said something to Elder Lopes in really fast spanish. Usually I can`t understand fast spanish and just ignore it if it wasn`t directed to me but I heard Gringo and bugs. I asked what had been said and she said she was surprised that I was eating the soup just fine with the little bugs in it. I was confused and looked closely at my soup and realized there were little bugs swimming around in my soup. I had been enjoying it very much until I saw this. My stomach turned, I ran towards the bathroom, got half way there and lost my lunch. I then cleaned up my mess and didn`t eat anymore. Next time I won`t ask. Or look. ;)
Weather:
The weather is very similar to Utah in the summer. Lopez is complaining about how hot it is but it doesn`t seem all that much hotter than a day in Utah. It`s a little bit more humid here but it isn`t like die cause you are swimming through the air humid. I quite enjoy it, esp. with the fairly good breeze we always have. It`s only rained twice since being here but when it rains it pours. The street names turn from Calle Flemming to Rio Flemming, Avenido Salk to Rio Salk etc. Rio=River. ;) Around 4 the clouds usually come in so it drops the temps a little bit so we really only have 2-3 hours when it`s really hot. It`s nice.
Bugs:
Every now and then I see a Cockroach but other than that there really aren`t any bugs here. I hear that it`s a little different in other areas of the mission cause San Luis is the most dry area in the mission. I`ll give another update later in the mission on the bugs.
Well that seems good for the week. I really have had a great week. We`ve had some great lessons and have some new people. Not too sure if they will progress but I`m hoping and praying that they will.
I haven`t heard much from my family that doesn`t live in my house or their names start Grandma or Grandpa...so what I`m saying is hey Cousins, Aunts, Uncles, etc I`d love to hear from ya! ;) Friends too please!
Well I hope all is well and love you all!
Love,
Elder Carter
June 4-10, 2012
Hey guys!
I`ve decided to just write some stuff today. So I hope your`all good with that. I`m just going to write about some random things that people have asked about or stuff I just feel like writing about. I`ll do this every other week from now on so if there is something specific you want to hear about let me know.
We don`t have any baptisms set up right now but we do have a marriage for next week with Roberto and Leticia. We`ve had some good lessons with them and have worked on some of the paper work with them. They are excited to actually get married and they want the temple in their lives to seal there family together for eternity. They have some work to get to that point but they are wanting it and trying for it so pray that all goes well for them.
The Buses-- The buses are fairly nice. They pretty much go everywhere and we use them a lot. They are all pretty much yellow here in San Luis and there are some green ones for more speacial kind of routes. It cost 6.50, yes thats in pesos, to ride the bus. That`s basically 50 cents in american money. It`s not a bad deal. We use them quite often. There are a few that have recognized that we use the buses often and that we are missionaries are they give us a discount so it`s nice.
My favorite lesson to teach-- I`d say that my favorite lesson to teach is the Plan of Slavation. It just brings people so much peace and happiness because they can learn about the plan that God has for us. It`s a great blessing for all of us. With this Plan we learn that God is our loving heavenly father, we lived with him before and acepted this plan, that while here on the earth we only need to do 5 simple things, Have Faith is Jesus Christ, Repent, be Baptized, receive the Holy Ghost, and Endure to the End, then after this life we get to live with our family and God for eternity in a state of never-ending happiness if we do these things and live the best lives possible. It`s a great blessing and I`ve seen it change peoples lives. Esp when they learn that they can live with family that have passed away. My favorite Scripture: Mosiah 2:41. It`s a scripture in the Book of Mormon so if you don`t have a Book of Mormon ask a Mormon friend, family member, a missionary, or you can order one on LDS.ORG or Mormon.org. Look it up. I`ll write why it`s my favortie next week. Read it and think about it and try to figure out why it`s my favorite.
The Avengers-- Oh what a great movie! I loved it lots!!! Ok I`m joking. Haven`t seen it but apparently it`s a great movie. Almost every one has
mentioned how great it is. ;)
Well this week is a bit short cause it`s the first time I`ve done one like this. Like I said send me ideas of stuff you want to hear about and I`ll think more and make notes of what I want to talk about. I hope all is well at home and that things are great.
Love you all,
Elder Carter
May 28-June 3, 2012
Hola everyone!
I hope all is well at home! Things are great here. We had a great week and the work is good. Didn`t really find any new people this week but we had some great lessons with Recent Converts, Less Active Members and with Ward Members. We had 6 Inactive members at church this week and they all were happy to be back.
No new baptism dates to report but we do have Roberto and Leticia getting married on the 16th of June. Hopefully all will work out. If they get married they will def get wet!
May 28th--Today we did laundry and cleaned the house up good. We went to the bank to try and change the American coins I had for payphone calls from the airport but the banks don`t change change. :) We then had some fun writing home and eating with Hma. Lupita in the street market. It`s fun to watch them make all the different food from basically scratch. We then went to the Guerrero Gonzalez family`s home and played Sorry with them. I won both games! District meeting was great and all of the areas are doing well.
May 29th-- Today we finished cleaning the house up nice for Presidente tomorrow. We then did a bunch of contacting and lessons throughout the day. We had a lot of people just plain say they didn`t want to hear the message or that they were busy. It makes me wonder what some of these people will say to Christ later on. Will they actually really say I don`t care, I don`t want it, I`m busy or whatever. We are suppose to have the same wants and desires there in heaven so it makes me wonder if people will actually turn Christ down while they are standing there in front of him actually talking to him. I guess we`ll find out.
May 30th-- Today we had a cool lesson on the Priesthood with Mayra and her family. They all wrote in my Convert journal and wrote some pretty cool things...I think. It`s all in Spanish. ;) No...I can read it. It was cool. We then had a good lesson
with the Guerrero Gonzalez family about always praying and then with Hma Lupita about faith. We contacted for a while and made some CD`s of the Book of Mormon for Mayra`s mom. We then had a good lesson with Robert y Leticia about Marriage and gave them a date, the 16th.
May 31st-- Today we contacted all day long. Not many people were home or interested but we try anyways. Hopefully some of our first lessons will want to progress. Keep your fingers crossed.
June 1st-- Presidente came and inspected our house today. Yes, two days late. :) He said it looked great and took us shopping. He bought us a fan for the room, new plates and silverware, and new blender and a pizza from Little Caesars. Apparently our house was the best so far. We then went to the bank and pulled out our money and went to lunch with the first councilor’s family. They had the Mexico vs. Turkey game on during lunch. Mexico won and apparently won some championship and everyone went all loco when they won. :)
June 2nd-- We planned for the next week this morning and then had lunch with Mayra`s family and ended up staying there for a few hours. It was raining like crazy. All the streets flooded and became rivers. It was the most rain I`ve ever seen and it actually lasted for a few hours. When it stopped we went to the Guerrero Gonzalez family`s home to share a scripture and got stuck there while it rained more. We got pretty wet just walking around when it wasn`t raining.
Crazy!
June 3rd-- Today was church and our convert family all bore their testimonies. It was way cool. Church focused on Repentance and was great since we had just had a lesson on this with Roberto and Leticia. It was good for them. We then went to lunch with Hma. Lupita and then had a fiesta with them while watching the Mexico Brazil game. No we didn`t stay and watch the entire game. We were only there long enough to please Hma. Lupita and eat some cake and Ice-cream. Turns out Mexico kicked Brazils butt. Haha Brendon! Mexico is better than Brazil!! ;) Congrats on your call to Brazil! Sorry it`s not to Mexico. ;) We then had some good lessons and had a good day.
Well that`s my week. All is well and I really hope all is well at home.
Love you all,
Elder Carter
May 21-27, 2012
Hola everyone!
My week has been great and I hope that it`s been great for all of you too!
Baptism Report: We don`t have any people with fechas(dates) but we did have 4 baptisms on Saturday. Rosa, Mayra, Araceli and Aideé. They are glad to be members and have pretty much read the entire Book of Mormon. They were confirmed in Church on Sunday and everythings all good with them. I baptized Rosa and Mayra and confirmed Mayra.
May 21--We started the day off with a double decker bus tour of San Luis Potosi and I ended up getting fried. I was a lobster afterwards. Oops. Mexico has this really great lotion for sunburns and after two days you couldn`t tell that I had been a lobster. We then had fun goofing off in centra. I bought Oakley sunglasses for the equivalent of about $8 American dollars. Not a bad deal, even if they are fake.
May 22-- We got up and exercised today. I think that this is the first time I`ve exercised outside of the MTC. The day was better so I`ll have to do it more. We had a good lesson with Mayra and her family today. We talked about Chastity, Tithing and the Word of Wisdom. They didn`t have any problems with these things and agreed to live them. It was cool to see how willing they were to accept it. It just proves that the Lord will place people that are willing and ready in our path. We then had a lesson with three members present. Ya ya! They just need to be married and they are pretty much ready for baptism. Their names are David and Susana. Hopefully we can get them wet!
May 23-- Today was pretty much contacting all day. We didn`t have any appts for today so we contacted all day. It was pretty tiring to contact and knock doors all day. We had a great lesson with Roberto and Leticia too. Just need to get them baptized and they are pretty much good to go too. Lunch today was Haystacks. American Haystacks are def 100% better. ;)
May 24-- Elder Lopez was sick sick today. We just spent the entire day in the house. The poor guy. Maybe if he`d listen to me and take some vitamins and stop eating everything in sight, maybe he`d not be so sick all of the time. ;)
May 25-- Happy Birthday Jayden!!!! Today we had the interviews for Mayra and her family. They passed! The Zone Leaders said they all were amazing and seem pretty strong. We just told them that yes they are. :) We then talked about baptism and had breakfast with them. We then went and washed some of the baptism clothes. We did some contacting and ate lunch with Hma. Norma. She had this soup with really little noodles and it was good. We taught Roberto and Leticia again today and really talked about why they need to get married. They are going to start
looking into what needs to happen for that to happen.
May 26-- Baptisms!!!! We got to the church at 6 in the morning to fill the font by 11. Apparently it`s the biggest font in the mission. It`s fairly good sized. We all got dressed, took some photos and baptized them. Afterwards the ward members took photos with them and had some testimonies and really welcomed them. It was pretty cool. Aideé didn’t want to leave the water and Elder Lopez had to shew her out. :) I baptized Mayra and Rosa btw.
May 27th-- Church and Confirmations. I confirmed Mayra and it wasn`t the most beautiful blessing but it got the job down. Next time I`ll learn some words that are good to use in blessing. ;) We watched Mountain of the Lord with Mayra and the family after church and had a good lesson on Temples. It was really good. We then spent the rest of the night with the Guerrero Gonzalez family and played games with
them and had a good lesson with them.
Well this week was great! I loved it! It reminded me of why I was out here and it was nice to actually baptize someone. I`m glad that they are now on the path to Christ. The Plan of Salvation was a big part in their conversion. Rosa recently lost her mother in a car accident so to let them know that there was more to life and that they could live with their family again and live as a family for eternity brought them great joy and peace. I know that this is true and I testify of it.
Well I love you all lots and hope all is well.
Love,
Elder Carter

Hola everyone!!
I had an amazing week last week and am super excited for this week!
Baptism Report: We have 4 baptisms for this Saturday the 26th! Rosa(47), Mayra(22), Areceli(16) and Adeé(8). They are an amazing family and have learned things super fast. When you hear that God has prepared people it is true. They were def ready and have progressed tons. They love church, the Book of Mormon which they have read half of and they are super excited for their baptism. I`m pretty dang excited too! ;) We contacted Mayra on the 10th, meet her family on the 12th and they are being baptized on the 26th. ¡Muy rapido!
May 14th-- We washed our clothes and I caught up on Journal entries while washing and Hma Lupita`s grandaughter drew me a nice picture in my journal. Don`t have a clue what it is. ;) We went to the Street Market and found Hma Lupita`s daughter and had lunch with her there. Their tacos are amazing!! To die for!! We had district meeting and talked about Christ. We then were treated to Burger King by the Zone Leaders and headed home.
May 15th-- Zone Conference number 2. We had breakfast at the Stake Center with the Zone and then started conference. President and his Wife had a couple of talks and during the middle we split into zones and the zone leaders talked for a bit. We learned a lot about the Christ like attributes and how to work harder. We had a great lesson with a new investigator, Andre, and I think he might progress.
May 16th-- We had a great lesson this morning with Mayra and her family. We talked about Baptism but they were a bit hesitant. Their dad is a major Catholic guy and they said they would have to ask him. Hopefully this doesn`t cause problems. We did some contacting this afternoon and evening but didn`t find many people. Next time!
May 17th-- We did our weekly planning today and had lunch with Hma. Jesus. She made these burrito things that were wrapped in Lettuce. They were...let’s just say interesting. I couldn`t tell what meat it was and didn`t ask. It`s usually a lot better that way. ;) We had a lesson with some investigators that haven`t progressed in forever but keep asking us to visit. We told them that they needed to start progressing or we wouldn`t be able to visit anymore. We then taught them about the Plan of Salvation and they clasped onto that with tons of force. They learned a lot and said they would start reading and progressing. Chide!
May 18th-- We had another great lesson with Mayra and the family. We did some review stuff to help them understand some questions and they learned a lot. We visited a Inactive Member and ended up teaching her boyfriend and he really like the message and asked for us to pass by again next week. Sweet! We had a cool experience at Family Home evening with the Young Men President. He had his cousin and his wife there and we ended up teaching them a lesson afterwards and they two want to hear more next week. Wow!!!!
May 19th-- We taught Mayra and her family the Gospel of Jesus Christ today and challenged them to be baptized. They accepted!!!! Yes!!! They are so ready and I am excited for them to enter the waters of Baptisma and change their lives. What a wonderful blessing. We had a great lesson with the Guerrero Gonzalez family. They told Elder Lopez yesterday that if he left they were going to stop going to church. Today we explained things and said that they needed to have faith in Christ and continue to go no matter what. They understood and the spirit was def there!! We had another lesson with the investigators that said they would progress and it went well and they said they would be at church.
May 20th-- Six people at church...wow! Mayra and her family and Roberto and Liticia. It was amazing. We had lunch with Mayra and we watched the Joseph Smith Movie with them and it was great! They are super excited for their Baptism. We then went to the Zone Leaders house and got our cambios(Changes). We both are staying here. :) Easy changes. :) We had a good rest of the day with members.
Well I had an amazing week and hope all is well at home.
Love you all,
Elder Carter

Hola everyone!
This week has been amazing and I´m still loving Mexico more and more everyday!
Baptism Report: We don´t have any dates at the moment but we do have 5 investigators that are pretty much sure to get wet and we will be giving them dates this week. Mayra, Rosa Eli, Adye and Rosa Mary: We found them on Wed. Had the first lesson and then had a lesson on the Plan of Salvation and they attended church with us. Marta Laticia: She was a reference that we were given from the Stake President. We had a lesson on the plan of Salvation. She has recently lost her parents in a car crash so this was really comforting to her. We have another lesson with her this week.
May 07-- Today we did laundry and had our district meeting. We then all went shopping and had pizza and hot dogs at Costco. We had a lot of fun! We had a big activity at the church this night. We played games and everyone did a skit. Ours was how you can´t trust the American Missionaries with your kids. We had the Elders from the area come and help so we had two Americans. We were in a TV and Elder Lopez had the remote. He told everyone to watch and see what we did. We had one of the young men helping us. We walked past each other and bumped into each other. Elder Lopez paused us and asked everyone what happened. No one knew so he rewound and played us again a little bit slower. No one knew what had happened so he said ok one more time at the slowest speed. This time instead of bumping into the kid we grabbed him and held him upside down and shook out all of the money he had in his pockets and ran off with it. Everyone laughed really hard and we were def the hit. I´ll send a video home next week of the skit!
May 08-- Today we did an activity with the District where everyone contacted in our area. We got a lot of contacts so hopefully we can get some good lessons in. We just contacted the entire day and got even more contacts.
May 09-- We did some contacting in Oriente today. We tried contacting some of the contacts from yesterday but the ones we tried weren´t home. I helped one of the young women in the word do some translation for homework today. It´s amazing how easy Spanish is starting to be. I really didn´t have any trouble and better yet, Lopez taught her mom that´s inactive so we got a lesson in too! Mailed a bunch of letters today!
May 10-- I had changes today and was with Elder Wienclaw again. We contacted Mayra and her family today! We also found a inactive family that has told us their house is our house if we ever need something. Hopefully we can get them back into church. We had a good lesson with them.
May 11-- We did a bunch of contacting and had some first lessons with some of the people that were contacted on Tuesday. Don´t know if any of them will progress but I´m hoping for the best!
May 12-- We had a lesson with Marta Laticia today. It went great and I´m sure she will be baptized. The Plan of Salvation was the exact thing that she needed in her life. She said she felt the spirit and def felt better afterwards and is excited for the next lesson. We did a bunch of contacting and later that night had a great second lesson with Mayra and her family. It was perfect and they said that they would be at church in the morning. Guess we will see!
May 13-- They were at Church!!! They loved church. It was way cool to see them just soaking everything in and Adye asked when she could be baptized. She is 8 and is super excited and loved church and her new friends from Primary. We went home, did a little studying, napped a little bit and then headed to a members home. I talked with my family and it was great. I absolutely loved it! Can´t wait for Christmas to talk again! :) After talking we went and had another lesson with Mayra and her family and had dinner with them. It was great and Adye wouldn´t leave my side. It was fun!
That´s my week. It was amazing and was def great! I hope all is well at home. All is good here.
Love you all!

Mother's Day SKYPE
Elder Carter was to call at 4:00 pm via Skype from a member's house. We waited and Mom was getting very nervous. The call came at 4:45 pm. It turns out the member was having internet problems so Kaylor and Elder Lopez walked to a internet cafe about 30 minutes away.
We were so excited to see him and hear his voice. He was a bit sunburned and his face looks a bit fuller. He struggled a little with English words which made us giggle. I miss his laugh. We all talked over each other until we got the hang of Skype. He sounds so grown up and has made amazing growth. He said the people are so gracious. Even those who don't want to hear their message will invite them in out of the sun and offer them a drink.
I am so grateful for technology and the time we live in. We are blessed to get weekly emails and have the ability to Skype. I can't wait for that Christmas call!

Hola everyone!
My week has been great and I`m loving Mexico more and more every day! This week has been great lesson wise and we have some great new investigators. Hopefully we will be getting some people wet before long. We don`t have anyone with a date at the moment but we will be giving a few people dates this week. Pray that they accept!
April 30-- We did laundry and had District meeting. After the meeting we headed to Centra and did a little shopping. I bought a new wallet since I haven`t had one since, well before the mission. Forgot to bring one of those. Finally decided I wanted one. :) We had some ice cream and took a bunch of photos. We had a blast and it was a nice break from constant work. I bought an air mattress so I no longer have to share the bed with Elder Smith we they are over on Sunday nights! Yes!!!
May 1-- We did a bunch of contacting today and had some great success. We had two lessons and both are willing to continue taking the lessons! We had a great lunch with an inactive member and got her to accept an invitation to come to church. Hopefully we will see her there.
May 2-- We had splits today. I worked with the other American elder from the area of Esponita. His name is Elder Wienclaw. We did a bunch of contacting this day but not many people were home. We had a great lesson towards the end of the day. His name is Antonio and we have actually had a second lesson since. He is great and I think he will progress.
May 3-- Elder Lopez and Elder Chan(Companion to Elder Wienclaw) ate at a bad vendor last night and are both sick. We spent the morning near the house so he could use the restroom when needed. ;) We did some contacting and had a lesson but she said she didn`t want more. She did take the Book of Mormon so hopefully we will get a call soon.
May 4-- Today we contacted a bunch in the morning and after lunch we went the the bank by the mall so Lopez could pull his money out. We ate at the Burger King by the bank and it was amazing! I haven`t had Burger King for months and it was really nice. They had AC there so we might do that more often. ;) Elder Lopez has lost his USB Drive with all his pics from the mission. I will learn from this and not put all of my pics in one place. He is pretty upset and I can understand why.
May 5-- Wowwwwwww...Cinco de Mayo is pretty much only an American Holiday. It`s not really celebrated here. Only in the City of Pueblo to celebrate the Battle that was one there in some old war. We had breakfast with one of the ward missionaries and talked about the ward and planned what he could be doing. I`ve been here for 2 months now and this was the first time that I did anything with the ward missionaries. Didn`t know they existed until now. Awesome! We had lunch with the Bishop`s family and for desert we had a Watermelon eating contest. She cut these big giant slices and we all raced to eat it. It was pretty fun.
May 06-- Today was church. Got up and bore my testimony again. I did fantastic...I think. :) We went home and wrote letters to family and friends for a while before lunch. Yes that means some of you will be getting letters in like two weeks. We had some good appointments in the afternoon and had dinner with the Guerrero Gonzalez family and had a great lesson on the Plan of Salvation with them.
Well that`s my week. I hope all is well at home and everyone is doing well. I`m healthy and well and loving the work. I`ve found out today, through the President, that I can email whoever I want. I just have to write him and my family and can`t spend more than an hour a week. So if you`d like to send me an email I`ll try to respond within a week or two and I`d be more likely to respond to an email. My email is [email protected]
Hope all is well,

April 23-29, 2012
Hola amigos y familia!!!
This week has been a great week! We`ve gotten some good lessons in and have received some great references. Hopefully we will have some dates soon!
April 23--Today we did our laundry and headed to district meeting. After the meeting the entire zone got together and played soccer! We had a blast and played for like 3 hours. I got the winning goal in the last game of the day! Take that Mexicans who don`t think Americans can play soccer!!!! Hahaha actually the gringos pretty much stink compared to the Mexicans. Hopefully my game improves after playing lots. :) Elder Lopez forgot he was leaving to Leon for the night and Tues for meetings and we almost missed his bus. I spent the night with the Zone Leaders and had a blast. Elder Wright can play the guitar so we had fun singing American songs and Elder Maldonado had fun trying to sing with us. :)
April 24--Today was pretty much with the Zone Leaders all day. They have some cool investigators and a pretty scary area in their area. A bunch of worshipers of the Santa Muerte(Saint of Death) live in the apartment complex and they have made this big shrine/temple to the Santa Muerte. It`s a weird religion but actually quite a few people believe in him. It`s weird. :) I had my first coke in a glass bottle today and it really is so much better then any other way. I don`t know why it
makes a difference but it does! I got a package from home with some candy, letters, ties and a REAL Salt Lake t-shirt. It totally made my day and I love the ties and shirt! We had Hawaiian burgers for lunch and they were amazing. Not quite Training Table standards but surprisingly close.
April 25--I had a bible bash with Testigos de Jehovah today! What? Bible bash in Mexico? Ya I was a bit confused too. :) We knocked a house and the guy let us in and was great. If it wasn`t for all of the TJ(Testigo de Jeovah) stuff in his house I would never had known. I walked in the door and was like crap, this might not turn out well. All the stuff meant that he actually studied his religion and would know his stuff. He didn`t have a problem with what we were saying and was
great but his sister walked in half way through the lesson and just wanted to fight. She wanted proof from the bible that the church was restored and that in 1820 god called Joseph Smith. We of course couldn`t prove that with the bible so
things didn`t go well. We ended up leaving without doing much then testifying and leaving a pamphlet. Hopefully we planted seeds.
April 26--Half Birthday!!! 19 1/2!!! Ya ya! :) We had a bunch of time contacting and had some great lessons. Hma. Vicky made some amazing tacos today. Turned out half of them were fish tacos and I didn`t know about it until after. I guess I like fish. Just needed to come to the middle of Mexico to figure it out. :)
April 27--We contacted and had appts all day long. We had some great lessons again and I`m def. teaching a lot better and feeling better about my Spanish.
April 28--Four months in the mission! Can`t believe it`s been that long. Today we had a great lesson with Angel and he has decided to be baptized. We now just need to get him married to his ¨wife¨. :) They don`t seem to be in a big hurry so we`ll have a talk with them about why they need to be married for baptism.
April 29--We had Angel and his wife at church today. It was nice having investigators in church. I gave a talk about Missionary Work and I focused on the help members can be. It went ok and I didn`t feel too bad about my spanish. Quite a few of the members congratulated me on my spanish and said I did pretty good so it made me feel good. The brother we had lunch with introduced us to his family and they are golden. I`m sure we will be able to baptize at least a few of them. It really will make a difference having him help us teach. I`m pretty stoked about teaching them. Elder Lopez and I had fun trying to sing the Hymns in the other persons language this night when we got back home. We had the music playing and were goofing off. It was pretty fun. I guess quite a few of you were freaked out by my Spider comment. I`ve made a note to myself not to say stuff like that. The house has been sprayed and I haven`t seen a single bug since that day and my arm is bite free.
Thanks for all the love and support. Especially for your prayers. I love you all!
April 16-22, 2012
Hola from Mexico!!!
This week was pretty good. We did a lot of contacting and first lessons. Not every first lesson ended in a second lesson but we`ve had a few and have some more scheduled. We`ve def. had the spirit with us this week and have taught some good lessons. We don`t have anyone with a date at the moment but we are def. working on that. :)
Mon. 16-- Today we did laundry and while Lopez was doing the laundry I was preparing my lesson for District meeting. We then went to the Guerrero Gonzalez family`s and had lunch. We played some games and had a blast. We did some stuff around the house and headed off to the meeting. My lesson went great and I really didn`t have many problems with my Spanish and felt pretty good about it. It was great! We had the same bus driver leaving the meeting as we had going to it. He didn`t let us pay. Turns out his family is living in Utah and his son just left on a mission. He hasn`t joined yet and is saving money for him to go join them in a few months. It was pretty cool.
Tues 17-- Today Lopez wasn´t feeling good so we stayed in the house until we had to leave for lunch. We did some contacting and met a bunch of people and set up a ton of appts and had 2 or 3 lessons. We had tacos for dinner and then
had a movie night with some members who had their neighbors there. We watched 17 Miracles and talked about all of the miracles after. Hopefully we can start teaching the neighbors soon!
Wed 18-- Today we pretty much contacted and knocked all day. Not a lot of people where willing to listen but it`s ok. We had another movie night with the Guerrero Gonzalez family and then had an amazing lesson on Miracles and helping
angels. The spirit was def strong and they are growing and will soon be super strong members.
Thurs 19-- We did tons of contacting again today. Much more success. We had some great lessons and I think some of the investigators might progress well. I found out today that when you have ¨cold days¨ like the past two days(The temp
was like high 60s to low 70s) all the bugs come inside the house. Apparently Black Widows are really big/lots here. We found 5-6 in the house today. One was crawling on my arm. Lets just say when I looked down to see what was tickling
my arm and saw that big spider on my arm....I freaked. :) I`ll be watching my arm carefully for the next few days!
Fri 20-- Today we did lots of contacting before lunch. After lunch we had tons of appts that were actually there. It was a cool difference. :) We had one lesson where we gave a blessing after and she was feeling the spirit strong and asked if she could be baptized. Turns out she actually lives in another area so we won`t be doing the baptism. :( Oh well!
Sat 21-- Elder Lopez is still being sick today so we took him to the doctors with Hma. Valle`s permission. Turns out he has a bad stomach infection and has to take this medicine that he says really tastes bad for the next month. We had some good appts and did some contacting.
Sun 22-- We had an investigator at church today!!!! First time!!! YES!!!!! He said he felt the spirit strong and we have another appt with him on Thursday. Wish us luck! We had a cool meeting with all the soon to be Elders today at the Stake Center and taught them how to teach the first lesson. It was pretty fun!
Well that`s my week. The spirit was strong this week and we had lots of lessons and lots of fun. Elder Lopez and I are getting along well. Scriptures for your scripture study. 3 Nephi 13:21, 3 Nephi 11, and Alma 32.
Love you all,
Elder Carter

So we got to the internet cafe and I just finished writing president and was reading your emails and Elder Lopez all of a sudden was like O Fetch! We´ve got to go. Turns out he needs to be on a bus that leaves in like 45 mins for Leon. Apparently he forgot about his District Leader Meeting. It´s tomorrow but he has an interview tonight. Entonces we´ve got to go pack for the night and get to the bus station that’s about 20 mins away. We will have time to write on Wed. I´m staying tonight with the Zone Leaders. I´m hoping that they haven´t written home yet. If they have you´ll hear from me on Wed. Love you lots!

Hola from Mexico!
Another week has gone by. We´re going to being seeing each other soon. Time flies by too fast. It’s way weird.
Baptism Report: We have no persons with a date. Samayra and Antonia have been away for the Concerts. Apparently there are a bunch of concerts for a period of like two weeks. IT´s been a bit problematic for us. They have been gone and didn´t attend church. When they get back we will give them new dates. Hopefully we can find someone who won´t be leaving town for two weeks soon!
April 09--Another P.day! We did laundry and then headed to the Central again. Elder Smith and Palma stayed with us Sunday night and they needed to get some stuff. I got another jersey of Arsenal. They are a team from England and I liked the Jersey. :) I had a ride in the Taxi from Mr. Toads Wild Ride in Disneyland. He was the scariest driver and almost got us killed. We got out early and took the bus the rest of the way. We had Little Caesar’s for dinner and it was amazing!
April 10--Today we got a lot of contacting done. We set up tons of appointments and I felt great! We met Roberto and Liticia today. We have taught them quite a few times this week but they haven´t accepted a date yet. They really like the gospel and what they are hearing so hopefully they will accept a date here soon!
April 11--We had a lesson today with a Jehovah Witness. She didn´t say anything about being one until after the lesson and then grilled us on a few things. I felt like I was in Mississippi again having a Bible Bash but this time I couldn´t defend myself very well. I´m glad Elder Lopez was there. We had a great lesson with the Guerrero Gonzalez family and they have set a date to go to the Temple next year on Feb. 13. Elder Lopez got permission for him, me, and Elder Palma who is his old comp to go attend the session with them next year! I´m so excited.
April 12--Today was a great day. We had three first lessons and contacting tons of people. We worked with one of the Zone Leaders while the other was out doing Baptism interviews. The three of us worked really hard and seriously contacted tons of people. Hopefully things will go well with them!
April 13--Today was pretty much like the day before. We worked super hard and had tons of success. Hopefully things work out!
April 14--We went to Leon today. All of the Mission was there. Elder Anderson talked to us and it was great! I learned a lot and was surprised that I could actually understand most of the Spanish. We took a big mission picture and I´m sure my mom will have it up soon. I saw all of my class from the MTC. It was way cool. Apparently those that went to Montana had another week in the MTC. They were sent back for two days to do visa stuff in Salt Lake but ended up staying for a week because the Pope was in Leon and the Airport was closed. Lucky them! They said it was like Graduating and then having to go back to school for a week!
April 15--Today church was great! We had another great lesson with the Guerrero Gonzalez family and their son has decided he wants to be baptized and his wife is having issues. He hasn´t accepted a date but says he will be baptized. We watched the Joseph Smith movie with them and they all said they felt the Spirit and that they really enjoyed the movie.
Well that´s just about my week. I love you all and hope all is going well. Things are great here and I´m actually getting to the point where I can just about understand everyone and talk to people. Def have a long way to go but I can do ok now. :)
Well I love you all!

April 2-8, 2012
Hola from Mexico!
As of today I have been on my mission for 104 days. That seems so weird to me. It doesn´t seem like it has been that long. These two years are going to go by super fast.
Baptism Update: Antonia: Antonia missed church on Sunday which means her date is no good. Investigators have to attend church two times in our mission before they can be baptized. We have given her a new date for the 28th and stressed the importance of attending church and she understands now and is excited for her baptism.
Samayra: We found Samayra on Friday and had an amazing lesson with her. She is golden and seems very interested. We asked her how she felt after the lesson and she basically described the spirit it terms of someone who doesn´t know what it is. We then told her that it was the spirit she was feeling and challenged her to follow the example of Christ and be baptized. She accepted and her date is the 28th of Abril too! We have a second lesson with her tomorrow
(Tuesday) so wish us luck that all is well!
April 2, 2012--Today we had our District meeting in the morning instead of the night and then we all changed clothes at the church. We then as a district went to the center of town and did some shopping in the market. For those of you that have been on a Mexican Cruise and done any shopping in the ports, it was exactly like that. There are a million people and shops in a small area. It´s a lot of fun and there is so many different things and foods that you can buy for pretty cheap. I bought rechargeable batteries for my camera and an Argentina futbol Jersey. I had a lot of fun! I got some tacos from a street vendor and they were absolutely amazing!
April 3, 2012--We did our laundry this morning and I´m pretty use to the washing machine now. Not so weird anymore. :) We then went to Hma. Vicky´s home and had lunch. I don´t know what kind of fish we had but I loved it and usually I hate fish with a passion! We had a great dinner and lesson with the Gerrero Gonsalez family(Cow Stomach family). Their son who isn´t baptized wants to be baptized but his wife is against it so we´ll see how that plays out.
April 4, 2012--Leon! I had to get up at 5am today! Yuck! I had to go into Leon to sign papers for my permanent Visa. Elder Gray and I were put on the bus and sent on our way. After a 3 hour bus ride, I slept most of the way, we arrived in Leon. We hoped in a taxi and told the driver the address we were given and were speedily driven through town to the Consulate. The Secretaries were there to help us. I saw Elders Evans, Moncur and Smith from my MTC class there. We then were taken to McDonalds, had a quick lunch and were put on a bus back to San Luis. So basically I spent 6 hours on a bus to sign about ten papers and have lunch at McDonalds. Let’s just say it was a blast. I did watch Minority Report in Spanish on the way back. It seemed like a good movie but I was just utterly confused. :)
April 5, 2012--We didn´t have any success at all today. Well not so much true. We did have a great lesson with an Minus Activo(Less Active) member of the ward. It was our very last appt of the day and it was great. We challenged her to come to church and she said she would. Antonces, we didn´t have any success with new personas or investigators, but we did have some success with an less active member.
April 6, 2012--We didn´t get into any of our appts but we did some contacting and found Samayra. She is golden and accepted a date for the 28th of Abril. Our goal is 3 personas this month and we have two dates. Need to find one or more personas! None of our other appts worked out and we didn´t have a lot of success contacting today but it doesn´t matter. We´ll be back out tomorrow.
April 7, 2012--We had a big fiesta with the district today. Changes are on Monday and we are losing the sisters and one elder. We had lunch and played water balloon volleyball and had a giant water fight. It was a blast!! We had two lessons today but I think they might be duds. We´ll find out when we have their second appts.
Abril 8, 2012--Today we had great lessons at church and I bore my testimony. Lots of people complimented how well my Spanish is coming along. I´m glad to get the compliments because I thought my testimony had sucked. :) Elder
Lopez keeps saying that my Spanish is improving too. I haven´t quite gotten to the point of truly believing it yet but I´m glad it´s improving. ;) We had lunch at the 1st counselor’s home and played Pictionary. It was fun! We had another
really good lesson with the Gerrero Gonsalez family and he is going to get the Priesthood next Sunday!! YAY!!!!!
Well that about sums up my week. I hope all is well at home and that everyone is doing good. I´m still in good health
and hope to stay that way!
Love you all,
Elder Carter
PS mom. Elder Lopez asked if you could throw an extra bottle of sunscreen in for him. Luv ya!
MARCH 26-APRIL 1, 2012
Well It`s been another week. Great times! I want to apologize to everyone. I am allowed to be on facebook but apparently I frightened everyone into thinking that I was breaking the rules and that they felt like they were
taking part in that. Sorry about the confusion. I will no longer get on
facebook so you don´t have to worry about that anymore.
Mon. March 26--Today we did our laundry and emailed home. I got an amazing letter from
my dad that made my days go by so much better. Thanks Dad!
Tues. March 27--We found some great investigators today! I hope that they progress. I`ve
decided that people can figure out that this is the true church and know that, but they just don`t want to change. My favorite mexican saying is "I don`t have a religion, but I`m Catholic." We committed Antonia to baptism. Her date is the 21st of Abril(April)(Pardon my espanol).
Wed. March 28--Today we didn´t have the slightest bit of luck. No one wanted to talk and
our appts fell through. I`ve started asking Elder Lopez for help with vocab. I basically just point at whatever it is I don`t know and he tells me. He has even started to do the same thing with English. It`s a blast.
Thurs. March 29--Christian and Luis have fallen off the face of the earth. :( They didn`t make it to church so that voided their date but we can`t get a hold of
them. IT really sucks. Pray for them por favor. We didn`t have much luck again today. The Hermana that made us lunch made Macaroni and Hamburgers for me. It made me feel better! Her husband and her reminded me a lot of Grandma
Sandy and Grandpa Don. Love you grandma and grandpa!!
Fri March 30--We didn´t have any luck again today. What happened to Mexico baptizing millions
in a month? ;) We did have an amazing lesson on temples with the Gerrero family though.
Sat & Sun March 31 and April 1--Conf was amazing. I got so much out of it! I did find out that my Stake Pres is a bit racist of Americans. He didn`t want to help set up the TV for english.
Well that’s my week! Love you all!
Elder Carter
Sorry I haven`t written to the family. No time this week. Have been out with the district shopping.
Letters next week!
March 19-25, 2012
Wow can you believe that Wed will be my 3 month mark and that today is my 90th day
away from home? Yep weird!
March 19th--Today we got up and ready and went to this big park with the Ward. We
played Volleyball, basketball, and soccer. I killed in the first two sports and
was killed in the last. The little kids could run circles around me. :) One of
the sisters taught all the kids, and us how to disco. IT was a blast. We then
got to write home and had our district meeting. I´m getting better at Spanish.
March 20th--"Walking Sucks!" Wow we walked a lot this day. I think I’m losing the fat
from my legs and gaining muscle. I´ve got a few blisters but you know me, MR. EMT, I´ve got them all taken care of. We were both falling asleep during P. Study and Comp. Study. We´re pretty tired. We had a few lessons today but I think they all might be duds. Hopefully they all turn out.
March 21st--"Giving up on People Sucks!" We went through our list of Investigators and
got rid of ones we didn´t think would progress after praying and studying our
list. I know it needs to be done to give more attention to those that may progress. I don´t like it because I know that we can help them find love, peace, and salvation but they don´t want it. It just feels like maybe I could have done more or helped them see the light better. Oh well I guess. It´s their choice and
hopefully I can teach them again on the other side and be more successful.
March 22nd--We got our first baptism dates today!!! Christian and Luis. They have a member friend
who is on a mission and are interested in what his religion is about. I´m so happy for them and hope all goes well. Other then the great lesson ending in baptism dates we had little success. You are all welcome to pray for the people of Mexico esp for those in the Leon Mission in San Luis Potosi. :)
March 23rd-- Today we had no success and our appts all fell through. We had fun
goofing off walking around, I would point to something, Lopez would say the Spanish word and I would then repeat it a few times and then we would do it again in English for him. We also have gotten into the habit of playing kick the rock through each other’s feet. :)
March 24th-- I realized today that I want to always be worthy to teach on the other side. We didn´t have any luck and went to an appt with an investigating family that has been progressing well. We knocked on the door and the husband answered, stepped out and shut the door behind him. He talked to us for a bit and told us that he had talked to his Padre or Father in the Catholic church about the
church and told him he was thinking of being baptize. I don´t know what the padre said but it totally turned this guy around and he didn´t want to talk to us. We shared our testimonies and left. All I could
think about when we were walking home was teaching him again. Hopefully I will be more successful and he will see the light at that point.
March 25th-- I love church. It´s such a small ward but I love it. We taught the primary kids about Profetas and it was a blast. We then went home and had a quick nap and went to our lunch appt. This is the family with the cow intestines but we just had tacos today. Feeeeeewwwwwwww! They turned on the Spanish Wrestling matches while we were eating and it was fun to see how much
they enjoyed it and to watch. :) Later we went to the 1st Councilors home and watched 17 Miracles with them and had treats. It was a really good day! Well that´s my week. I´m loving Mexico still. The weather is usually in the high 80s and I love watching the clouds. There is no pattern to
them. They come and go like that and it´s just so weird. We had a pretty wicked lightning storm last
night during the movie and it was cool to watch out the window. I´ve decided I miss my washer and dryer. Using a washer that you have to fill up by hand and switch out the loads a bunch is no
fun. IT just takes twice as long here. I´m sure I´ll get used to it. I´m also sad to say it, but I think I’m sick
of corn tortillas already. Ya I bet you´re laughing Mark. :) I´ve eaten my weight in corn tortillas if not
more. Hopefully someone will have some flour tortillas soon. :)
Update on address. If you sent stuff don´t worry. It will still get here. This is just a little more easy.

Some info on sending stuff. Regular letters and packages take about two weeks to get to
the mission offices from Utah. Dear Elders are printed off within two or three days of being sent. I will receive them either when the Zone Leaders do their monthly visit to the office or when the mission pres or missionaries come and visit our area. Some people have asked so here´s the info. :) Well I love you all lots. Hope to hear from you soon!

Hey send me the boys email addresses and the grandparents too. My Pres said I can
email the grandparents and that they can email me. :) I got grandma´s Dear Elder on Sat when the Mission Pres. came to do interviews. Haven´t got the package or letters yet.
